Research: Ion mobility-mass spectrometry is an analytical tool that is used to separate small molecules based on their size and shape. Using this in combination with other more separation techniques (such as liquid chromatography) enables greater coverage of small molecules in metabolomic studies. My research focuses on using these methods to study extracted fecal metabolites to better understand the gut microbiome.
