My research in Dr. Steven Damo’s lab involves uncovering the crystal structures and unique properties of manganese-dependent superoxide dismutase SODA and SODM. We want to study the role of these enzymes in the survival and proliferation of the infectious and dangerous methicillin-resistance staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This will ultimately lead to insights to potential drug development. Currently, I am optimizing the crystallization process.
My goal is to successfully complete the Bridge Master’s program and continue research in a doctorate program in the area of Microbiology and Immunology.
