Astrophysicists use scintillators to study cosmic events such as quasars and black holes. Improving the energy resolution of such scintillators has the potential to lead to new discoveries or a better understanding of such objects. My research delves into the nonproportionality of these scintillators - one of the last hurdles to improving their energy resolution. Understanding the mechanisms behind nonproportionality may lead to better detectors.
